A Teacher at Heart"When I grow up I want to be a mother, an artist, a writer, a teacher, a detective, and a ballerina." My name is Stephanie Palazeke (formerly Stephanie Hewett).
I grew up in Rotterdam, NY and have always loved making art and helping people. I enjoy seeing the successes of others and I am committed to helping them achieve it. Please view my artist webpage at www.stephaniehewett.com Below are some images related to both my personal interests and my experiences working with students. ColorguardI am very involved in the performing arts. My artwork is based in performance and video and this work was inspired, in part, by my high school experience in color guard. Color guard is a performing art where members dance with flags, weapons, and other props alongside a marching band or to pre-recorded music. I am now a color guard instructor at Schalmont High School and in the Mohonasen Central School District. I coach, design shows, and choreograph work for high school and middle school students. This program is a way for me to get involved with the local community as we compete with schools from across the state and fundraise at local venues. It also builds my experience working with students and their parents.
Artwork/
My artwork is focused on psychological explorations of biblical women. Absurdity, action, humor, and imperfection are integral in these videos. Please see my artist website for my artist statement, located on the tab called "Bio."
I collaborate with artist Erin Godfrey Mattison to create contemporary surrealist videos that deal with the abstraction of language, absurdity, fantasy, confusion, humor, and history. Our collaborative group is called MooseChat Arts. Our work can be viewed at www.MooseChatArts.com CatsThis is my family's cat, Velvet.

Orientation LeaderI led groups of incoming college students through the campus at The College of Saint Rose in 2013. I taught them how to navigate the new expectations of a college campus and facilitated their social experiences, leading group activities and icebreakers. I also worked with parents as questions and concerns arose.

Star TrekHistoryLearning about history and especially art history is very exciting for me. I love drawing connections between people of the past and our current society and I really like seeing how things have developed or progressed over time. My dad and I are interested in Roman history and American history! This picture was taking during a drawing tour of Rome in 2012 during my undergraduate training in art and art education.
